The first time I was in Talipanan was two years ago. I didn’t even know that this place existed. It is this small stretch of beach away from Puerto Galera’s White Beach, where most tourists went. We were there to eat at a this local Italian restaurant called Luca’s that one of my friends have been raving about.

My friends and I found ourselves on the same beach for the same reason again this year. We were in Puerto Galera for the Malasimbo Festival, and since we didn’t have to go to Malasimbo til Sunday, we decided to include Talipanan as a nice little side trip/food trip. We went to Talipanan a little  too early for dinner at around 4PM. Some of my friends who have not been here before wanted to check out the beach.

Talipanan’s beach is a lot quieter compared to the bustle of White Beach. There are fewer resorts in this area. There is also an absence of noisy restaurants or vendors combing the shore, offering their various goods to the beach-goers.

We placed our order at Luca’s and while waiting for our food to be served, went down to the beach to hang out. The sand here isn’t as fine as it is in White Beach, but I think the more peaceful scene made it seem better. There weren’t a lot of people when we were there.

I saw some kids, skim-boarding by the shore. There were also some divers emerging from the water. After taking some pictures on the beach, we were informed that our order was ready and we made our way to the restaurant.

The food at Luca’s is excellent. I still remember our meal two years ago. It was delicious! Our order now certainly did not disappoint, either. We ordered the Quattro Formaggi pizza and the Seafood Marinara.

I can try and sound like a foodie here, but I don’t really know how to be one, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. The food was sooooooo good. The servings were huge. There were five of us splitting those two orders and we had more than enough to go around. I imagine that if we were in Manila, this would cost a pretty penny but my friends and I spent about 150PHP each. That’s not bad. I think Luca’s reputation explains the number of tourists dining here. When we were there, as the sun set, more tourists came and the place was packed.

After dinner, we spent more time by the beach. I think I may have fallen asleep in one of the chaise lounges they had on the shore. I was so sleepy. As it became dark out, it was time to return to La Solana in White Beach to clean up and get ready for our night out.

    • Hi, Faye! My friends and I used the service from the resort we stayed at, but you can take a tricycle from the main road, a few minutes walk away from White Beach. Travel time is I think maybe 30-40 minutes or so depending on what you’re on.
